1936 - Paul Lueg came up with a noise-control system that worked by inverting the polarity of sounds and playing them back to cancel out any unnecessary background sounds.
1950 - Lawrence Fogel designed ANC tech to cancel out background noise in the cockpits of helicopters and planes.
1957 - Willard Meeker created a working model of how active noise control could be used on headphones.
